Delicate Structure

2024

steel sheet, chicken bones, acrylic, fishing line, wood, lightbulb

Although bones are the strongest parts of our physical forms, holding our muscles and flesh together, they are incredibly delicate and ornate. Kendall Sommers uses this sculpture to give a personal space to consider how our bodies hold “waste” and materials disregarded when out of context. How, within certain contexts, the materials within us are considered valuable or even strong and outside of these contexts they are fragile and wasted.
